Military K-9s

Hi Faith,

Heroes. It's the only word I can think of that embodies the service and sacrifice of our military dogs. They serve side-by-side with our soldiers to protect America from threats here at home and abroad.

Two months ago, I learned that America trains these four-legged warriors and then hands them over to the Jordanian government where many are being abused and starved to death. I was horrified and I had to do something.

My name is Namrata. My family has a tradition of military service, and the love of my life proudly put on the uniform for our country. It's one of the reasons I care deeply about how those who serve are treated — human and K-9 alike.

So when I look at the photos of these abused K-9s, my heart breaks for the injustice of it all. People can speak out on their own behalf. But, military dogs depend on our government to do the right thing. And when they don't, it means people like us have to act.

This is one of those moments. I'm turning to people like you to build an army of supporters to save these dogs.

Change.org has given me the tools needed to reach as many people as possible in a matter of weeks. So far more than 100,000 people have signed my petition pressuring the U.S. government to end the military dog program with Jordan until new policies and procedures are in place to end the abuse.

Together, I know we can double that number. And when we do, we are going to make sure the State Department can't ignore us.

I plan to travel all the way from California to D.C. to deliver the petition. When I do, I hope supporters like you – along with your own canine family members – will join me.

The heroism of military dogs has been front and center with the killing of the leader of ISIS. It wasn't a particular soldier making headlines for taking out the terrorists, it was a military dog named Conan.

With Conan expected to make a visit to the White House, it's a perfect opportunity to make sure the public also hears about those military dogs not being treated the way they deserve.

In the coming weeks, I will be sure to update you on additional ways to get involved and an exciting project I am working on to tell the stories of these dogs, but here is what you can do today:

We can win this and end the needless abuse. Togther, we are the voice for these dogs. Thank you for your support.
