In 2008, when Wall Street crashed the economy and millions of American families lost their jobs, their homes, and their savings, I went to Washington to take on the big banks. They had armies of lobbyists and lawyers. But I beat them. After Senate Republicans vowed to block my nomination to serve as the CFPB's first director, I went back home to Massachusetts and ran against one of them. I started out 17 points down, and he had truckfulls of campaign cash from Wall Street. But I beat him too. I ran to tax greedy corporations, to invest in jobs and our infrastructure, hold Big Banks accountable, and to rein in student loan companies. I know what's broken, and I know how to fix it. I know how to fight, and how to win. We've been fighting uphill all the way against powerful special interests. But guess what? We got it all done. But the fight to make our government work for everyone — not just wealthy corporations and billionaires — isn't over, and special interests are fighting back hard. So I'm running for re-election to keep up this fight and make sure big banks, corporations, and billionaires stop taking advantage of working people. But I rely on this team's support to continue this work. So Faith, will you please make a contribution of $20 or anything you can today to power my re-election campaign and demonstrate our movement's strength ahead of Friday's FEC fundraising deadline? If you've saved payment info with ActBlue Express, your donation will process automatically: | This is only possible if we work together. That's the only way we've won before — by fighting side by side. And that's how we're going to keep making progress. Democrats win when we go out there and unapologetically fight for the big, structural change we need — to stand up to powerful special interests and advocate for real change for working people. I'm not afraid to fight for this. Every day, I'm inspired by the Americans who are fighting to demand change and a better future for their families and communities. We've recently seen nurses, teachers, baristas, retail workers strike for better working conditions, organizers have been getting involved at the state level to pass ballot initiatives that protect abortion access, and millions of young people worldwide have been demanding action on climate change to ensure the survival of our planet. Now, here's one thing I've learned about how to make real change: It takes a grassroots movement fighting from the outside — and leaders willing to fight on the inside. I'm willing to take on this fight, and your support helps ensure we can campaign for our plans and win. So, that's why I need to ask for your help now. Can you chip in whatever you can today to help reach our important quarterly fundraising goal before midnight on Friday? Your support will help fund our campaign and show that supporters in Virginia and across the country believe in the plans we're fighting for. Thanks for being a part of this, Elizabeth |
