| Have you ever gotten a 26% raise, Faith? You'd think that such a hefty bump would come after a pretty impressive year. But from 2022 to 2023 the CEO of Warner Bros. got a compensation increase of over 26% — to nearly $50 million, including bonuses and stock awards — despite a year that was rocky, to say the least. Despite layoffs. Despite box office bombs. Despite a lagging stock price. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. workers had to strike for higher pay. CEO pay is out of control. Millionaires and billionaires are making out like bandits. So it's safe to say they can — and must — pay their fair share to keep our country running. Add your name if you agree, Faith: we've got to tax the rich to increase opportunity for all, and it's time to put more money and power in the hands of working people. There are plenty of ways we can get the rich and powerful to pay their fair share. The IRS can keep up its new crackdown on wealthy tax cheats — a step I pushed for, and which Democrats funded as part of the Inflation Reduction Act. We can pass President Biden's plan for a minimum tax on billionaires, because Jeff Bezos shouldn't pay a lower tax rate than a public school teacher. We can also enact his proposal to increase my minimum tax on massive corporate profits. And we can put a two-cent wealth tax on net worths bigger than $50 million, with another penny per dollar for the billionaires. From paid leave and child care to affordable housing, we can use new tax revenue to build a future for all of our kids. If you think we need to build an economy that works not just for wealthy CEOs but all working people, add your name — and let's make it happen side by side. Thanks for being a part of this, Elizabeth | | | |
