Faith,
Happy Holidays! As I'm reflecting on the year we've had and all we have accomplished, I can't help but feel so grateful for every single Porter Supporter. So here it is, my official holiday letter:
We won a tough, toss-up race, even though Republicans spent nearly $10 million to try and keep us out of Congress.
- I outperformed every other Democrat on the ballot here in CA-47, and that's because our robust campaign won the support of Democrats, Republicans, and independent voters.
- We knocked 125,000 doors and reached 640,000 people on the phone. We ran a ton of ads—my kids were extremely ready to not see my face on TV, the internet, and on bus shelters.
- We were able to make last minute TV ad buys as the race tightened, thanks to your support.
In Congress, my priority is always to stand up to special interests and deliver for California families. A few highlights:
- My legislation to lower drug prices was included in the Inflation Reduction Act and signed into law.
- We made historic progress addressing climate change, and my bill to raise fees on polluters was also signed into law.
- I introduced legislation to crack down on corruption In Congress: banning Members of Congress from trading stocks, requiring better transparency when Members of Congress travel on the taxpayers' dime, and requiring Members to publicly disclose their meetings and legislative activity.
Our campaign continued to be people-powered. We won without accepting a dime from corporate PACs or federal lobbyists.
- Our average online donation this cycle was $23.75.
- 80% of our contributions were $25 or less.
I'm so proud of the work our team did this year, and I'm ready to continue fighting for California families.
By the way—those end of quarter deadlines don't go away just because the election just happened. We'll once again have to publicly report how much we've raised. You can power our movement by making a contribution before the end of the year, using this link:
