Faith,
As 2022 comes to a close, I'm looking back at some of the progress we've made this year.
To lower costs and strengthen our economy:
- My legislation to lower drug prices by recovering taxpayer dollars from Big Pharma companies when they raise prices faster than the rate of inflation was included in the Inflation Reduction Act and signed into law.
- My bill to crack down on Big Oil's greed and lower gas prices passed in the House.
To crack down on corruption:
- I introduced legislation banning Members of Congress and their families from trading stocks.
- I introduced legislation to increase transparency about who Members of Congress are meeting with, and to be transparent about our travel on taxpayer dollars.
To protect the environment:
- My bill to raise fees on polluters who drill on public lands was also signed into law.
- My legislation to better prepare us for wildfires and address record droughts passed in the House.
I introduced over twenty other bills, addressing all sorts of issues—from a bill that would allow the IRS to get you your tax return faster, to one that would support students' mental health.
Thanks to you, I'll be sworn in once again on January 3rd and am ready to continue this important work. If you have an idea for legislation I should work on in 2023, go ahead and submit it here.
Thanks for being on Team Porter!
Katie
