Take a second to think about some of our most successful presidents — so many of them were under 30 when they first got their start in public life.
Faith,
Since launching Leaders We Deserve, I've gotten a lot of questions about why we're focused on electing young candidates. So today I wanted to take a second to talk about why a candidate's age actually matters.
Take a second to think about some of our most successful presidents — so many of them were under 30 when they first got their start in public life:
- President Biden was 29 when he was first elected to public office
- LBJ was 28 when he started his career
- FDR was 28 when he was elected to the New York State Senate
- Thomas Jefferson was 26 when he was first elected in Virginia
- Abraham Lincoln was 25 when he was elected to the Illinois legislature
Pitch in to elect more young leaders →
And you know what? That early start helped each of those guys gain a ton of experience that served them throughout their entire career. It's just common sense, honestly.
Faith, that's a major reason we're getting to work now to get other leaders like them elected at a young age.
Not only will they be able to provide a sorely needed perspective as young people in government, but we'll also be building a bench of experienced leaders for the future.
As a grassroots organization that doesn't take corporate donations, we can't do this without your support, Faith!
So if you're ready to help us elect young leaders all over the country this November, pitch in $5 to support our work ahead of our end-of-month fundraising deadline tomorrow:
