I'll try to keep the story short(s)
It all starts here: this entire GOP debt ceiling negotiation is a sad charade…and it's *exactly* what's wrong with Washington.
I mean, we're playing with fire + the livelihoods of millions just for the GOP to try to put the screws on hungry Americans? It's nuts!!!
Buuut — and this was the reason for our press conference today — these Republican antics are the whole reason why the 14th Amendment exists. If President Biden invokes the 14th Amendment, the United States can keep paying its bills on time…and we need to be prepared to use it.
TL: DR; We can't let these reckless Republicans hold the economy hostage. (And, if our unelected Supreme Court Justices try to block the use of the 14th Amendment and blow up our economy, that's on them.)
Anyways, that's how I ended up on stage with my colleagues today, asking President Biden to invoke the 14th + shut down radical Republican budget demands.
And maybe, y'know, not exactly blending in. 🩳
