I've gotten a lot of questions about how Democrats can win back young voters.
We need to offer a clear economic vision for rebuilding the American Dream – one that speaks to young Americans who feel homeownership, debt-free education, and raising a family are still out of reach for them, no matter how hard they work. And most importantly we need to be ready to deliver on it. It can't just be talk. A lot of Americans just don't think Democrats care, understand the problems they have, or are prepared to do anything serious about it.
None of these basic necessities should be considered a luxury in the richest country on earth. We can – and must – do better. To win young Americans back, Democrats have got to show them how we are fighting to create that future.
Young Americans aren't asking for a handout. They are asking for an opportunity – so that if they put in the work, they can end up being better off than their parents.
