| You know, Trump talked a big game on the campaign trail and made big promises about how was really going to help out American families. But his actions on the first day of his presidency didn't match up. In his inaugural speech, he said nothing about health care. He did not speak to lowering grocery prices, making it easier to buy a home, or doing anything that can ease the panic and anxiety of living paycheck-to-paycheck. You know what he did give air to? Renaming the Gulf of Mexico, taking back the Panama Canal, and relitigating old grievances. If that isn't telling enough, he gave billionaires like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Tim Cook, and Mark Zuckerberg prime seats at his inaugural ceremony in front of Trump's very own cabinet nominees. And he also issued sweeping pardons to January 6th rioters — completely whitewashing the fact that this was clearly an insurrection, that people died, that people were injured, and that police officers were attacked for defending the democratic process. That all tells you everything you need to know about who this administration is prioritizing. Here's what I have to say: Donald Trump is great at distracting the people and the media with ridiculous chaos — "I'm going to take Greenland!" — all so he can then jam through terrible policies that will make life worse for working people and make life better for billionaires. That's the strategy: Flood the zone with distractions while saying hateful and divisive things so that we don't notice the sinister fine print in the more mundane policy-making process. We can't take the bait. We need to stay focused on what he's actually doing. We must hold the line against every hateful thing that he tries to do — and make it clear to voters that he's doing nothing to help middle class families and everything to support billionaire CEOs and right-wing extremists. That's what I'm going to do every single day for the next four years. If you believe that this is how our elected officials should be standing up to the Trump administration, then please pitch in $28 or anything you can right now. Your support will fuel our work to actually make our government work for working people. | If you've saved payment info with ActBlue Express, your donation will process automatically: | Thanks for being a part of this, Elizabeth | | |
