Something rotten is coming from my nextdoor neighbors
Something rotten is coming from my next-door neighbors — Faith — no not the ones in Braddock, the ones across the street from the Senate: The U.S. Supreme Court.
I've never felt right about 9 unelected people getting lifelong appointments to the highest court in the land. The people of Pennsylvania get to hold me accountable every 6 years at the ballot box. There's also a code of ethics senators have to follow. And our colleagues can investigate complaints of misconduct and even expel us.
The Supreme Court — which has the power to uphold or strike down every single law Congress passes — has nothing like that.
Even after Clarence Thomas got busted accepting lavish trips from conservative billionaire Harlan Crow, the Court didn't do much. They released a new code of ethics, but it's got a loophole bigger than the Liberty Bell: There's no enforcement mechanism. The only way to remove a justice is impeachment, resignation, or death.
So I'm calling for an overhaul of the Supreme Court. For starters, they need a code of ethics with an actual enforcement mechanism. And I don't think justices whose partners actively support an insurrection should then get to rule on whether or not we hold those insurrectionists accountable. Just a thought…
If we're going to hold these lifetime justices accountable, we need a Senate majority, House, and president who will get the job done. Pitch in $5 to make sure we can do just that in November.

It's no surprise that over 50% of Americans disapprove of the court. Their behavior is pretty shitty:
- Clarence Thomas accepting a staggering $4.2 million in gifts
- His wife trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election
- Justice Alito just shrugging of his wife flying pro-January 6th and white Christian nationalist flag
But so are their rulings:
- Overturning Roe v. Wade, abolishing national protections for abortion
- Throwing out Chevron — which says experts, not judges, should uphold the standards for thing like clean air, water, and food safety
- Granting Donald Trump immunity
If these things pissed you off, you're not alone. The good news is we can do something about it.
You deserve a Supreme Court you can trust to uphold the rule of law — not give billionaires and Donald Trump everything they ever wanted. Pitch in $5 to elect a Congress and president who will bring accountability back to the Court.
