This is a longer email from Mae Krier, one of the original Rosie the Riveters, about why she supports Senator Bob Casey. But before you keep reading, will you join Mae in supporting our campaign by pitching in? Hi there, My name is Mae Krier, and I was a "Rosie." If you haven't heard of Rosie the Riveter, she was an icon from World War II who represented women like me who worked in factories producing war supplies. Many years ago, long before I settled down in Pennsylvania, I went to work in a Seattle factory to rivet bombers for our boys overseas. I was just a kid — 17 years old to be exact. Up until 1941, it was a man's world. They didn't realize how capable American women were, but the war changed everything. The Rosies were instrumental in winning the war, and those who fought will tell you the same. That's why I spent decades advocating for the service that Rosies like myself provided to be formally honored by the U.S. government — and Bob Casey answered that call. He fought to get Rosie the Congressional Gold Medal, which was awarded in April as a tribute to the underrecognized effort of American women to win the war. I love Bob Casey — that's why I'm emailing you today. Our Commonwealth is a better place because of Senator Casey. He has spent his entire career fighting for Pennsylvanians like me and fought to ensure that women everywhere finally got the recognition they deserve. I want to do everything in my power to ensure that he is re-elected in 2024. If there's one thing I know from my time as a Rosie, it's that many hands make light work. So today, I'm hoping you'll consider chipping in any amount to Bob Casey's re-election campaign. Chip in ›› Thank you for reading this. It means the world to me to advocate for my favorite Senator. Together, we can do it! Best, Mae Krier |
