Your vote

Hi Faith,

With early and mail-in voting underway, I wanted to tell you about a common way that we sacrifice part of our voice when we vote. More than 30% of voters fail to fill out the entire ballot.

We know the Change.org community is passionate about a variety of issues, many of which are decided at the state and local level.  For example, in 2020, we've seen millions of people start and sign petitions that:

+  Ask for local businesses or schools either remain closed or reopen during COVID-19;
+  Demand justice in police shootings;
+  Call for the protection of animals from winter weather;
+  Preserve local landmarks;
+  Stop rent and mortgage payments during the pandemic.

In each of these cases, the issues Change.org members care about are decided on the state or local level.

In fact, most Change.org petitions target local decision-makers, not the President or even Congress. So when you don't vote for every office on the ballot, you are sacrificing your voice on the issues that matter.
