Trump is treating ICE training like a game

Faith, did you know ICE agents get only 47 days of training before they're handed a gun and sent out into American streets?

Why 47? In honor of Trump being the 47th President, of course.

So the Trump administration is just picking these numbers in the name of vanity. Got it.

As Trump treats this like a fun little game, Americans are being shot and killed in the streets. Children are being swiped up by their backpacks by agents. Families are afraid to leave their homes to simply go to school or the grocery store.

If we're going to pick out some numbers to focus on, in addition to the egregiously short period of time these recruits spend on training before they are sent to cities with loaded guns and are told they have full immunity, here's a few more we should be considering:

$85 billion. That's how much funding ICE received from Trump in last year's Big, Ugly Bill. This made ICE the country's highest-funded law enforcement agency, all due to cuts to health care and food assistance funding.

$190 billion. That's how much overall funding was given towards Trump's DHS and immigration crackdown. That is bigger than the annual military budget of every country in the world — combined — except for the United States and China.

$10 billion. That's how much extra money Republicans want to give ICE right now. Because being the highest-funded law enforcement agency and beating out all but two countries' total military spending combined is not enough.

73,000. That's the record-high number of people detained by immigration enforcement as of January 2026. That's an 84% increase compared to this same time last year.

86% of those arrested by ICE during Trump's first year back in office had no violent criminal records. There has been a 2,450% increase in the number of people with no criminal record being held in ICE detention on any given day.

In 2025, more than 170 U.S. Citizens were held by immigration agents. Nearly 20 of them were children. 2 of those children had cancer.

At least 38 people have died while in ICE custody since Trump took office. 4 people were fatally shot by ICE agents.

These aren't just numbers. They're painful stories. They're human lives. They're evidence of a system fueled by vanity, driven by cruelty, and engineered for unchecked power — all paid for with our tax dollars.

This didn't happen overnight — and it won't be undone without sustained, people-powered pressure. The most immediate thing we can do right now is block more DHS funding and use our leverage to rein in the terror and violence coming from ICE right now. That's just the start — and I'm in this fight all the way.
