BREAKING: Grand Jury Rebuffs Justice Dept. Attempt to Indict 6 Democrats in Congress
This is outrageous.
Trump's Justice Department prosecutors just tried (and failed) to indict me and five of my colleagues for stating the law in a way they didn't like. No one can force our troops to follow illegal orders, and the oath to the Constitution is sacred.
In response? A group of regular Americans sitting on a grand jury looked at this and said: No. This is not a crime.
That's because Americans know and believe that our Constitution is not a polite suggestion to those in power—we take an oath to support and defend the Constitution, and that is bigger than any weak man or his even weaker enablers.
This was an abuse of power, and Americans shut it down.

Back in November, several of my colleagues and I released a video reaffirming a basic constitutional truth: the oath to the Constitution comes above all. No service member is required to follow an illegal order. Full stop.
Trump's response? He tried to bully and intimidate us into silence.
He went so far as to have his allies at the Justice Department push for criminal charges against members of Congress for saying things he didn't like.
Donald Trump and his administration tried to intimidate us. Indict us.
But a group of everyday Americans sitting on that grand jury looked at this case and shut it down.
That almost never happens. Prosecutors almost always get the indictments they ask for. The fact that American citizens rejected this tells you everything—they could see what this really was: an abuse of power meant to punish people for standing up for the Constitution.
Even in this moment of intimidation and chaos, ordinary Americans still recognize the difference between the rule of law and raw political revenge.
I first swore an oath to the Constitution as a 17-year-old at the Naval Academy. I took that oath again when I was elected to represent Western Pennsylvania in Congress.
That oath is sacred. It's lifelong. It doesn't expire. And it doesn't bend to threats or tantrums from a would-be strongman.
America isn't about loyalty to one man, it's about loyalty to the Constitution. Defending that is something I will never shy away from.
