Dear Friends of the Western Flyer,
I wanted to reach out personally to make sure you've heard the exciting news! In April 2025, the Western Flyer will return to the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez) for the first time since John Steinbeck and Ed Ricketts' legendary 1940 expedition. Through a special partnership with Uncruise Adventures, we're thrilled to offer you the chance to be part of this historic event. Their small ship, Safari Voyager, will shadow the Western Flyer on a remarkable ten-night journey, creating a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.
More than just an adventure, this exclusive fundraising trip carries forward the spirit of curiosity, exploration, and deep connection to the natural world that Steinbeck and Ricketts embodied. By joining us, you'll help the Western Flyer Foundation continue their legacy—igniting wonder, inspiring future ocean stewards, and fostering a love for marine science and the arts.
There are only 13 cabins left on the Safari Voyager, so if you're interested, don't miss this opportunity to become part of history and support the Flyer's mission! Learn more at: https://www.westernflyer.org/join-the-western-flyers-historic-return-to-the-gulf-of-california/
If you're unable to join the trip, we'd be grateful if you could help spread the word to anyone who might be inspired by this experience.
There will also be other ways to celebrate! Mark your calendar for March 16, 2025, when the Western Flyer will depart from Monterey—exactly 85 years after the original expedition! And if you're not already on our newsletter list, you can sign up here to receive updates and to learn about other opportunities to get involved.
Thank you for being such an important part of our community and for all the ways you keep the Flyer's mission alive.
Warm wishes,
Executive Director
