I'm nervous about the 2024 election. 😱
Right now, all the non polling indicators are telling us Biden should win in November:
- Democratic candidates are winning their races – For example, our candidate, Nadarius Clark, won in one of the most competitive seats in Virginia.
- Democrats are raising more money – Trump's total number of donors is down while Biden's are up from 2020. Plus, NPR reported that Biden had significantly outraised Trump at the end of Q3. (The gap is closing though, with the Trump campaign reporting a record haul after his criminal conviction.)
- The midterms were not nearly as bad as predicted – Democrats kept the Senate at the federal level, but we also made major gains in state legislatures around the country.
- The stock market is up – when the stock market has gone up in the three months before the election that typically means the incumbent will win again – and we're on track for that to happen.
Despite these positive signs, at this moment, all the polling says we are going to lose in most of our key battlegrounds. Not good, Faith. 👎
Here's something we know to be true: polls aren't always accurate. But we still look at polls because they give us a sense as to how competitive an election could get.
One thing's for certain: this presidential election is extremely consequential and we have a real fight on our hands.
Leaders We Deserve is doing everything we can to elect young leaders across the country, and just as importantly, to diversify the strategy for Biden's reelection by turning out progressive Democratic voters in swing districts that could determine the outcome of the presidential election in November.
Our goal is to be able to say that we left no stone unturned, put in every minute of our time, and supplied every resource we can think of to ensure the election goes the way countless Americans need it to. There's far too much on the line to leave this to chance.
If you are feeling as nervous as I am, I hope I can convince you to turn that anxiety into action. Our slate of endorsed candidates, all Gen Z or Millennials who refuse corporate contributions and focus on a progressive agenda, are working to inspire voter turnout in pivotal districts and help lift Biden to victory. Will you make a $5 donation to send resources to a swing race in a swing district right now to elect the next generation of leadership and stop a second Trump term?
