Hope

Dear Faith —

In the last week, here in the U.S., we saw what we are capable of when we come together on Change.org.

We're navigating uncharted territory together, and fear and anxiety are high — but the best antidote to despair is action. And Change.org exists to empower the collective action this challenge demands. Here are four ways people are standing up for each other:

    1) Mom Liz successfully petitioned New York City schools to close and institute remote learning. Over 370,000 supporters helped push this movement to victory.

    2) A coalition of chefs started a movement to #SaveOurRestaurants and media outlets like Fox News, Forbes, The Washington Post, and The New York Times are eating it up.

    3) Maryann has a compromised immune system, and she's demanding more test kits be made available for at-risk Americans and almost 400,000 supporters are backing her up.

    4) Respiratory therapist Malliesha works on the front line of her hospital's war against COVID-19 and she's fighting for hazard pay for employees like her.

And that's just in the U.S. This is happening all over the globe with 25 million signatures on petitions around the world just in the last week.

We have an opportunity before us to showcase the very best of humanity. The Change.org community can model the behavior we want to see from our government, our corporations, and each other during this crisis.

The good news is this: Every single day we're seeing millions of people on Change.org choose compassion over cruelty, generosity over scarcity, hope over fear and action over indifference.

Your actions are making all the difference to the lives of millions of people depending on our collective action to fight for them now, more than ever. Let's keep it up.

In thanks for all that you do,

PS —  Mr. Rogers had it right when he said: "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'

We've found the helpers. There are millions of them rising to meet this challenge.

Will you join them?
