Here's the truth: Donald Trump and Kristi Noem's dangerous agenda is already taking place across the country, including in New Mexico — and it could go even further if we're not careful.
One of my opponents in this race is funded by a Kristi Noem donor. That's not random. That's how this extremist agenda takes hold — through outside money and candidates who are willing to open the door to it. Extremists see New Mexico as a top target for their right-wing agenda. When Trump and his administration abuse their power and come after our rights, Democratic leaders are the last line of defense. That's how we stop the worst of Kristi Noem's agenda from taking root. And let's be clear about what that agenda actually looks like:
- Deploying undertrained ICE agents to cities across the nation, tearing families apart and targeting Black and brown communities.
- Stoking violence at every turn, causing people to live in fear across the country, including right here in New Mexico.
- Putting families at risk by holding up over a billion dollars in FEMA funding. She is withholding critical funds that allow people across the country, including right here in New Mexico, to recover from and prepare for natural disasters.
If Donald Trump and Kristi Noem want to bring their dangerous, extremist agenda here, they will have to get through us. That's what it means to be the last line of defense.
