Meet The Very Special People Built This Very Special Company

Hello Very Special Friends,

We're a little more than a week away from a BIG announcement - and this one, in particular, has me reflecting on how our little company has evolved into a real business. When it was just Evan and me, we moved fast and did our best, but also did stuff like launch Charty Party with a typo on the box (the game of ASBURDLY funny charts) and ignore social media almost completely. You've heard enough about the two of us, and I wanted to take some time to introduce you to the pals we've been lucky to meet along the way and have done the real work into making Very Special Games real.

Blake
We hired Blake on Upwork to do five hours of social media work a week and three years later she's our Chief Operating Officer. Blake sees and knows all and there's 100% chance we would have never launched the Asburdly Collector's Edition of Charty Party if she was on the team from the start. I've never met anyone as diligent and committed to greatness as Blake.

Takashi
A bit more than a year ago, it became clear to Evan and me that we needed a significant injection of professionalism in our product development processes. Takashi knows how to make stuff, in every possible form. He's an ace with Creative Suite, can render 3D assets, has a deep understanding of material qualities, and a wonderfully practical imagination for making our silly ideas work.

Dave
I sometimes joke during difficult times that Evan and I might finally find out if we're actually good at this or just incredibly lucky. We may never know for sure as Dave fell into our laps at a time we were actively searching for a marketing director and business-threatening tariffs had just been announced. We've known and admired Dave for years, but working with him, it's clear to me that I've never seen anyone as intellectually curious, passionate, and deliberate in digital marketing execution as Dave.

Amanda
When I finally convinced Evan a full-time social media director was a good idea, I almost stopped the process in its tracks when I realized how many resumes we were going to get and have to read. I posted on LinkedIn that I wouldn't be reading resumes and interested candidates should just figure it out. Not only did Amanda figure it out, once I saw her submission, I knew we didn't need to look at any others. Amanda made a TikTok video in which she played the DM of a game of D&D and the player. They were going over her character sheet which was actually her resume. HIRED.

Tavey
Though he doesn't technically work for us in order to maintain his freedom to pursue whatever creative endeavors he fancies at the time, I'd be remiss to not mention Tavey. He's been an important part of the business since we met him while he was Kickstarting Tiny Robot Love Doctors, leading the design of both Bloomchasers and the surprise I mentioned earlier.

Evan
I could write pages and pages about how Evan has been the most important part of my professional life, but I won't. I will just say, if you're going to start a business, get someone who is great at everything you're not and who doesn't get annoyed at your frequent and obvious shortcomings.

Have fun!
