This year, Halloween gives us a chance to take a breath in the middle of an unbelievably eventful election season, where the stakes are incredibly high. For our families. For our freedoms. For our democracy. But days like Halloween — where we dress up in silly costumes, eat too much candy, and make happy memories with the people we love — also remind us why we're in this fight: to build a future where all of our kids and grandkids can thrive. (Also where all of our pets can thrive, in or out of costume — I'm working to tackle private equity greed in the veterinary industry that's jacking up costs and putting pets in danger). If I have the honor of winning another term in the U.S. Senate next week, I will stay in the fight to ensure reproductive freedom across the country. To make universal child care a reality. To bring down the cost of housing. To tax the rich. To protect the right to vote and the right to have that vote counted. To make it easier to join a union. To root corruption out of Washington. To put power in the hands of working people. On the other hand, if Republicans take the Senate and run wild in Washington, there'd be zero opportunity to vote on a law for national abortion protections — in fact, the far right would work to ban abortion nationwide. Deep cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and education funding would be on the table. And we could see one, two, even three new right-wing extremists join the Supreme Court. Even though it can absolutely feel overwhelming to think about everything looming over us right now, I want you to remember something that Vice President Kamala Harris has been saying across the country: when we fight, we win. Channel your anxiety into action in the next five days. Deep breaths. Let's get this done. If it makes sense for you right now, please make a donation of any amount to support our re-election campaign, and help make sure we win. Happy Halloween, and thanks for being a part of this, Elizabeth P.S. Now here's a treat: Bailey, a.k.a. the Tooth Fairy, hopes you're having a happy Halloween, Faith! |
