Faith,
In just a moment, I'm going to ask you to make a contribution of any amount to support John Fetterman's campaign for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania. But first, I hope you will give me a chance to explain why your support is so important.
Right now, two votes in the Senate are blocking the agenda of the American people. From expanding voting rights, to strengthening our nation's unions, to addressing the climate crisis, we have been blocked again and again from passing meaningful legislation that would address the long-neglected needs of working people in this country.
In a time where the ultra-rich are only growing richer, working people are falling further behind and are losing even more support from their elected representatives. It's a status quo we can't allow to continue.
That's why I'm writing to you about Pennsylvania's U.S. Senate race. Not only do we have a real chance to elect a leader like John Fetterman who will take on powerful special interests — this race is one of our best opportunities to flip a seat, expand our Senate majority, and finally show the American people a government that works for them instead of the wealthiest few.
In order to elect John and flip this seat, we need to come together and show as much support as possible in these critical final weeks. So I am asking you:
John Fetterman is a different kind of Democrat.
He supported legalizing marijuana before it was popular, officiated a same-sex marriage before it was legal, and pushed for universal healthcare long before it was mainstream.
If elected to the Senate, we don't have to wonder where John will stand. He will take on corporate greed, make the wealthy pay their fair share in taxes, and fight for the working class of this country — not the rich and powerful.
But right now, within our corrupt campaign finance system, John is up against tens of millions of dollars from right-wing super PACs that are running grossly dishonest attack ads trying to defeat him. We cannot allow these billionaire-funded super PACs to succeed, which is why I'm asking again:
Anything you're able to contribute today will help ensure we have a crucial vote in the Senate to pass legislation that could transform this country. Thank you for chipping in today, if you can afford it.
In solidarity,
Bernie Sanders
